International Tango Festival and World Cup

Location:

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Dates:

August 8th - August 21st

We all know that it takes two to tango; in Buenos Aires, Argentina, it takes two weeks. From the 8th to the 21st of August this year the International Tango Festival and World Cup will play host to two weeks of workshops, performances, and, of course, competitions, all revolving around the mystic art of tango. Buenos Aires is the only real location that this festival of frivolity could be held; after all, they invented it.

Don’t worry, it isn’t just for seasoned professionals, in fact, the very opposite. Throughout the festival there are workshops set up for all ages and levels, from young to old, and beginner to pro, with no excuse not to join in and put on your dancing shoes. Don't worry, by the way, if you haven’t got a pair, as the festival website points out “you can always buy a pair at the dance fair”. Even if you really have found yourself a brilliant excuse not to boogie the night away (perhaps a recent hip surgery), you can always while away the warm Argentinian summer, sipping fruity drinks and watching the Tango World Cup take place.

A quick search on YouTube will show you what you’re in for, - quite frankly it's utterly astounding. If you needed any more proof that the Argentinians know how to party: all this hip-swaying Latin American joy is completely free for everyone. Just make sure to get there nice and early, it packs out fast.
